Team Ghana recorded its highest haul of medals at the African Championship since 2006 after winning six medals in Morocco. Below are some of the highlights of the team’s achievements:

Triple Jump: Nadia Eke Triple Jump 13.40m (PB) Silver Medal ^Qualified for IAAF 2014 IAAF Continental Cup^

Javelin Throw: Mary Zuta Nartey- 52.57m (PB) ^Qualified for IAAF 2014 IAAF Continental Cup^

Heptathlon: Elizabeth Dadzie Silver Medal 5286pts (PB) ^Qualified for IAAF 2014 IAAF Continental Cup^

4x100m relay: Tim Abeyie, Solomon Afful, Emmanuel Dasor and Daniel Gyasi-4x100m 39.28(fastest 4X100m time by a Ghanaian team at an African Athletics Championship since 1979)

4x100m relay: Flings Owusu-Agyapong, Gemma Acheampong, Beatrice Gyaman, Janet Amponsah (the 3rd fastest 4x100m time (44.06secs) by a Ghanaian relay team at an African Championship in the past 14 years)

Decathlon: Atsu Nyamadi -Bronze Medal 6946pts (Ghana’s first bronze medalist in the Decathlon)

Long Jump: Robert Martey (4th) 7.80m) ^Qualified for IAAF 2014 IAAF Continental Cup^

Women’s 4x400m relay: Ghana (4th) 3:42.89
Javelin Throw: John Ampomah (5th) 75.99m (New national javelin record & PB)

Triple Jump Mathilde Boateng (4th) 13.23m

Discus Throw: Julia Agawu (4th) with 47.13m

High Jump: Naya Owusu (4th) 4th Naya Owusu Ghana 1.70m

100m Final: Tim Abeyie 10.40 (7th)

The rlg Ghana Grand Prix is an International track and field athletics meet that was first held in Kumasi on 6th July, 2011.The event brings together over 45 foreign athletes and 60 locally based Ghanaian athletes in a four-hour international athletics competition. Nichole Denby (100m hurdles), Alie Israel (100m/200m), Shericka Mozell (100m/100m hurdles), Jarod Tobler (Long Jump), Terrell Wilks (100m/200m), who are all from the USA, took part in the first edition of the competition.
