Ghanaian athletes continued their impressive start to the indoor season with some strong performances in the latest rankings released by the Ghana Athletics Association

Ghanaian athletes continued their impressive start to the indoor season with some strong performances in the latest rankings released by the Ghana Athletics Association as at 14th February, 2015. There were as many as five personal best performances this past weekend.

Columbia University first-year student, Akua Obeng-Akrofi stole the spot light, moving to second on the GAA’s 200m dash rankings with a new personal best of 24.06. Her time puts her behind national 200m indoor record holder Janet Amponsah who leads the log in a time of 23.67.

Elsewhere, African heptathlon silver medalist Elizabeth Dadzie hurdled to another personal best 8.58s in the 60mh.

Stephanie Aidoo clocked a personal best in the 400m with a 56.20 clocking in the 400m, while African 4x100m relay silver medalist, Daniel Gyasi stormed to a personal best 22.11, this time in the 200m event and sprinter Solomon Afful similarly run a personal best 6.83s in the 60m.

The rlg Ghana Grand Prix is an International track and field athletics meet that was first held in Kumasi on 6th July, 2011.The event brings together over 45 foreign athletes and 60 locally based Ghanaian athletes in a four-hour international athletics competition. Nichole Denby (100m hurdles), Alie Israel (100m/200m), Shericka Mozell (100m/100m hurdles), Jarod Tobler (Long Jump), Terrell Wilks (100m/200m), who are all from the USA, took part in the first edition of the competition.
